New emissions-busting technology for Heathrow Airport

According to sources at our Heathrow Airport parking base, Heathrow Airport has just invested in cutting edge new hydrogen technology to help them reduce vehicle emissions around the airport.

Combine the fumes generated by staff vehicles, airside fleet machinery and the traffic from Heathrow airport parking services, and you’ve got a pretty heady cocktail of noxious gases. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way thanks to new green innovations which can help to reduce emissions by as much as 40%.

According to staff at our Heathrow airport parking operation, Heathrow Airport bosses decided to invest in the HRN3 hydrogen technology produced by h2gogo after trialling the cutting edge generators over a six week period.

During the trial, a 24 volt HRN3 unit was fitted on to a dust cart’s diesel engine as the machine went about its usual duties around the airport. The modification resulted in a 40% reduction in carbon dioxide, particulates, nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons emissions, leading to the airport’s decision to purchase the units for use across its airside fleet vehicles.

Airport bosses have invested in the technology as part of their strategic plan to meet government targets on cleaner air. As the reduction in emissions produced by the h2gogo generators exceeds the requirements of their reduction plan, Heathrow Airport staff are jubilant, and keen to roll out the technology as soon as possible.

When asked about the new green generators, Spencer Thomas, Heathrow’s Airside Environment Manager said:

“We’ve been impressed with the immediate achievements in emission reduction from the trial vehicle. h2gogo has provided us with the technology and expertise  to help us with one of our key objectives in reducing airport vehicle  emissions.”

“We’re also looking beyond vehicle uses to see where the h2gogo technology could also help us further reduce other ground level emission sources.”
