Exeter Airport Parking customers report new drop off charge

L4P

According to information provided by our Exeter Airport parking customers, Exeter Airport has decided to do away with its free 10 minute waiting policy.

The allowance used to allow drivers to drop-off and pick-up friends and family from flights without charge - so long as they didn’t exceed the 10 minute limit. Pulling into the drop-off area now will incur a £1 fee for the first 30 minutes - something which may encourage passengers to opt for short or long-stay parking at Exeter Airport instead.

Although some passengers have been critical of the change in policy, Exeter Airport authorities defend the charge, telling the BBC that the decision had received “positive feedback” on the whole.

Airport Managing Director Jamie Christon went on to explain that, “the car park deals with up to 25,000 cars per month at peak.”

“We can no longer subsidise the free use of that car park when we're having to spend large amounts of money on the car park for upkeep and technology.”

He added that a free drop-off facilities were still available in Car Park 4, but admitted that it is a 10 minute shuttle bus journey away from the terminal building.
