Flybe wins top travel award

Fans of Exeter Airport’s very own low budget airline Flybe will be delighted to hear that the successful regional airline has just won a top award at the 2011 Business Travel Awards.

As both Europe’s busiest regional carrier and the UK’s leading domestic airline in terms of passenger numbers, Flybe continues to go from strength to strength.

Best Short-Haul Airline

Voted Best Short-Haul Airline for the second year running by a panel of industry experts, they were recognised for their excellent service and ability to meet the needs of business travellers. The award carries particular weight this year, as they were able to fight off stiff competition from the likes of aviation heavyweights British Airways, Lufthansa and Finnair.

This year for the first time, Flybe was also shortlisted in the Best Airline Worldwide category along with more established airlines such as British Airways, Lufthansa, Qatar and Virgin Atlantic Airways.

In an interview with Travel Weekly, Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer said of their latest accolade:
