It’s good news for our East Midlands Airport Parking team this week as Jet2.com announces plans to expand its operations at the busy regional airport.
Everyone from airport car parking operators to hotel and restaurant chains will have listened with interest to Jet2.com’s recently announced plans to add to its fleet at East Midlands Airport.
The airline currently operates two aircraft out of East Midlands, serving 12 destinations worldwide. With the addition of a third plane, the no frills carrier will be able to add two further routes to its portfolio - to Malaga and Murcia - attracting an estimated 4,300 extra passengers each week.
As well as bolstering its passenger numbers, the move will also create around 40 new jobs at East Midlands Airport – taking the total number of staff there to over 100. According to our East Midlands Airport parking team, the roles created will include cabin staff, ground staff and pilots.
It’s hoped that the new aircraft will join the Jet2.com fleet for summer 2012.
