Manchester to New York flights confirmed for spring 2011

Anyone hungry for a bite of the Big Apple will be pleased to know that American Airlines have confirmed plans to run their Manchester to JFK route again this spring.

The airline first trialled the Manchester to New York JFK route last May and it quickly became a favourite with demand for flights exceeding expectations. It was initially thought that American Airlines would reintroduce the service for summer 2011 only, but such was the clamour of interest in it, that they brought the launch date forward to the 6th April this year instead. There are also plans afoot to run the flights all year round if sales remain as high.

As well as greater frequency, departures in both directions have also been re-timed by over an hour this year so that they depart Manchester earlier and leave New York later. It’s hoped that this will enable travellers to maximise their time in New York, making the most of its many exciting sightseeing and shopping opportunities.

Maria Sebastian, Regional Vice President of Sales and Marketing at American Airlines, had the following to say about the latest announcement:

“Since the route was launched in May 2010, literally thousands of customers have flown with us non-stop to New York and beyond. We are very grateful to everyone involved in making the flight a success and are excited to be able to respond to customer demand by bringing the flight back earlier and with sales open on an annual basis for next year.”
