So it's been 14 days since I started my new life as a Link Builder for Looking4Parking and I can honestly say it's the only job I've ever had where the only way to learn is to just get stuck in! There's no hard or fast way to learn and the BEST way is honestly to be chucked in at the deep end. It's hard to explain what it is exactly that I do..... so I'm not going to bother! Instead, I'm going to share my short experience with you and hopefully in amongst my ramblings you will be able to understand what it is that I do.
My first day largely involved me thinking to myself 'So, what have I got to do?!?', and 'I still don't know what I'm supposed to be doing, what have I let myself in for?!?'. Now on the face of it you'd think that would be a Con, and you'd be right. However, as I learnt more and developed my own technique it became obvious it was OK to feel a little overwhelmed and confused at the start.
With the help of other people and their invaluable advice it soon became a lot more interesting; searching for tutorials and watching videos about Link Building also helped immensely. I think the biggest help though was actually surfing the web site which I was linking for and understanding the Cheap Airport Parking business; what people want, why they want it and where they can go to Compare Airport Parking. A definite Pro.
As time ticks forward and terms such as Page Rank, Anchor Text and Deep Linking become set in my vocabulary, the better the job gets. Finding relevant sites with a high Page rank, asking these sites if it's possible to put our link on one of their pages, discussing reciprocal links and finalising details has gone from being a complicated and repetitive process to being an easily achievable and satisfying one - in just 2 weeks!I suppose my advice to other people about to delve into Link Building would be to get involved and just go for it! Don't be worried if you have a million and one questions, there's lots to learn and asking questions gets you there quicker than sitting in silence. As this is my first and only job as a Link Builder I can't say if the industry you're working in makes a difference to how difficult or easy the job is, all I know is that understanding Meet And Greet airport parking has significantly helped me.
I hope this has been of some comfort to you if indeed you are a newbie Link Builder, just remember.... don't be afraid to ask questions!
